Office Related Questions…

  • Where do I park for your office?

If you're visiting for less than 15 minutes, there are free parking spots at the front of the building. Otherwise, there is a large parking structure for guest parking.

  • Do you validate parking?

We validate parking for our clients.

  • Is there anywhere to eat close by?

Yes. There are many restaurants on Pacific Coast Highway near Grand Avenue.

Fee Related Questions…

  • Do you charge for an initial meeting?

No. The first client consultation is always free. There is also no no obligation on your part to hire us after that meeting.

  • If I hire you, what will it cost me?

With the exception of business matters, all injury type cases are taken on a contingency fee basis. That means that we are only paid attorneys fees if we recover money for you. Our fee is based on the amount we recover for you, and is a charged at a percentage of the gross recovery.

The amount of attorneys fee compensates us for the work done on your case. As we work on your case, we will be advancing certain costs and expenses for things like medical records, court filing fees, service of process, jury fees and the like. Those costs are also deducted from the gross recovery to reimburse us for what we spent on your behalf.

  • What if I already have a lawyer but want to hire you?

Occasionally we see clients who already have a lawyer, but are dissatisfied with the service that they are receiving or some other problem exists. If you find yourself in that situation we urge you to try and speak to your current lawyer to work out any problems. If however, your lawyer is uncooperative or you are uncomfortable with your lawyer, we can take over the handling of your case.

When your case is settled we must share part of our attorneys fees with your prior lawyer. The amount that your prior lawyer will be paid from the settlement is dependent on the amount of work performed by them. It will not, however, cost you any more in attorneys fees to switch lawyers.

General Questions…

  • Do I really need a lawyer?

Absolutely. Insurance companies have attorneys working for them and you should too. Do not make the mistake of handling your own case.

There are many factors that go into a successful case. One of the most important jobs that your attorney can do is to properly manage your case from the very beginning. This includes assistance with statements, medical providers, property damage repair and preserving evidence. Too many people try to handle their cases themselves and ultimately ruin them beyond repair.

Lawyers are doctors of the law. Just as you wouldn’t try to self diagnose any medical problem you have without the assistance of a doctor, you shouldn’t try to handle your legal problems without the assistance of a qualified lawyer.

  • How much will I get from my case?

Every case is different and there is no way that any lawyer can guarantee you a certain amount of money from your case.

The value of a case (and how much you will get from it) depends on many factors including the facts of the accident, the nature of the injuries sustained, the amount of medical bills, property damage and wage loss, the court that the case may be tried in, the jury pool and the parties involved. Every person is unique and therefore the value of every case is unique as well.

One of the advantages of hiring an experienced lawyer is that the lawyer can properly analyze your case and ensure that you receive a just amount for your case. People who try and handle their cases themselves have no idea what a fair value is for the case and often settle for far less than they should.

  • How long will it take to resolve my case?

There is no way to accurately predict how long it will take to resolve your case. How long any case takes to resolve is dependent on many factors, including: the length of time the client receives medical care, how long it takes to receive all relevant medical records and reports, how long it takes the insurance company to respond to the settlement demand, whether or not a settlement is negotiated without filing a lawsuit, whether a lawsuit has to be filed, and ultimately, how long the court takes to set a trial date.
